A Time to Be Born
Ms. Linda Rushin Bryant, daughter of the late Eddie Rushin, Sr. and the late Parthenia Hill Rushin, was born on Saturday, December 16, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia.
A Time to Live
Ms. Linda Bryant was an avid reader who loved to write as reflected in her beautifully scripted penmanship. Linda attended the public schools of Atlanta, Georgia and graduated with the class of 1962 from Samuel L. Archer High School. As a widow, she returned to school and received her degree in phlebotomy from Rutledge College in Charleston, South Carolina.
A Time to Love
As a self-sufficient, confident, and enthusiastic young woman, living on her own in New York City, Linda met and befriended her late husband, Willie James Bryant. Their friendship transitioned to courtship. After marriage, Linda moved to Goose Creek, South Carolina and made it her home. As a widow, she reared six children. Her caring husband and one devoted son, Cedric Rushin, preceded her in death. Her five surviving children will cherish her loving, everlasting memory: one adoring son, Elder Sean (Stephanie) Rushin of Chester, VA; four dedicated, devoted daughters: Ayanna (David) Bryant-Gadson of Summerville, SC; Guanda (Reginald) Anderson of Charleston, SC; Litisha Venning of Mount Pleasant, SC; and Quantella (Marshall) Bryant-Holmes of Newport News, VA; eight compassionate grandchildren: Arquecia Rushin; Jonteja Venning; Annika Gadson; Elita Rushin; Zanabia Bryant; Sean Rushin, II; Zoe-Ana Holmes; and Zamora Holmes; three great-grandchildren: Kandyce Jefferson; Christopher Jefferson, Jr.; and Cidra Rushin; eight siblings: Eddie Rushin, Jr.; Winston Rushin, Sr.; Wilma Cooper; Marcus (Beverly) Rushin of Atlanta, GA; Cynthia Poole of Covington, GA; Bernice Paris of Atlanta, GA; Constantine (Maurice) Jamison of Brooklyn, NY; and Jimmy Rushin of Atlanta, GA; one sister-in-law: Eloise Simmons; two brothers-in-law: Jasper (Vernita) Bryan and Cleveland (Dora) Bryan; four special spiritual sons: Tracy Rivers, Stuart Forrest, Errol Villiers, and Ural Ferguson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Time to Serve
A hallmark of Linda’s life was helping others and bringing a smile to their faces; she loved children. In addition, she had a profound affection for her grandchildren and “grand doggies”. Her talent and admiration for sewing and solving puzzles gave her an opportunity to display her creativity and ingenuity. She began her Christian life at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia and later received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at The House of God Church in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Linda served as Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, Pastor’s Aid and Anniversary Committee Chairperson, and Local Young Folks and Friends Union (YFFU) President at The House of God Twenty-two Mile before transferring her membership to the House of God, Five Mile where she served as Church Secretary for many years under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Clary K. Butler.
A Time to Heed the Call
After a lengthy battle with illness and a desire to remain with her attentive and loving children and grandchildren, our Heavenly Father called Ms. Linda Rushin Bryant, by name, early Sunday morning, December 2, 2018 to her everlasting home. Her dedicated children surrounded her as she surrendered all and transitioned to glory where she will rest in a divine reunion with her loving son, Cedric.
