Blondell Brown Doucet, born October 31st, 1951 passed away on January 5th, 2019. Blondell was born in Charleston, South Carolina to Mary Lee and Elijah Brown, Sr., who preceded her in death. She was one of six children (Elijah Junior (who preceded her in death), Jerrold, Rufus (who preceded her in death), Frank, and Janith. She grew up on Rutledge Ave, then moved to Jackson Street and was educated in the public school system in Charleston County, graduating from C.A. Brown High School in 1968.
She married Norman P. Doucet, Sr. in 1970, and to that union was born one child, Norman P. Doucet, Jr., who was her pride and joy. Blondell loved music and was a magnificent vocal talent, and entertained many friends and strangers both in church and out.
She is survived by her son, Norman Doucet, her daughter-in-law, Rachel Doucet, two grandchildren, Eloise and Agatha Doucet, siblings, Jerrold and Brenda Brown, Frank Brown and Janith Brown, her long-time special friend James Tolbert, and nephews, nieces, and cousins, including: Elijah, Rufus Jr., Lamont, Cameron, Jerrod, Rishad, Sabrina & Louis, Jermaine, Preston, Shiyanne, Reniesha, Sabri, and Leola.
Blondell touched the lives of all who knew her and never missed an opportunity to have a long conversation with anyone. She sacrificed much so that she could raise and provide opportunities for her son and lived through both good times and bad, optimistic, but realistic. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend and will be missed dearly.
