Albertha Sheppard

Dickerson Mortuary announces the passing of Ms. Albertha Sheppard, 84, who transitioned on Saturday, November 18, 2023.  

The family of Ms. Albertha Sheppard invite you to her celebration of life services on Saturday, November 25, 2023 12:00 Noon at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church 110 Calhoun St. Charleston, SC. Interment: Mother Emanuel Church Cemetery Charleston, SC.

Ms. Albertha Sheppard was born September 17, 1939, and was the daughter of the late John Benjamin Sheppard (Jessie) Sheppard and Emily Victoria Sheppard. She transitioned into eternal rest on November 18, 2023, after a long illness. Ms. Sheppard joined Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church at an early age, where she was baptized, a faithful member, and of service in countless ways. She attended Buist Elementary School and was a graduate of Burke High School, Class of 1957. She spent her life caring for people as a RN in both New York City and Charleston, SC. Ms. Sheppard is survived by her two children, L’Tanya Williams and Vernon (Lisa) Collins; four grandchildren, Derek, Deonesha, Caya and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Kobi and Hermione; a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Ms. Sheppard will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 5PM – 7PM at Ollie M. Dickerson Memorial Chapel. Viewing will also be Saturday, November 25, 2023, 11:00AM - Until the time of services at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church.
